My boyfriend Toshi

I would like to nominate My boyfriend Toshi
In the last two years my boyfriend has been through more then most people would have in their life,
In November 2006 he sadly lost both of his parents in a motorcycle accident, leaving behind
6 children aged from 19 to 8 years. To stop them from being split up into foster care he took on the courts to
keep all his brothers and sisters under one roof. Since then he has had to take on the role of big brother,
a father figure and also the many jobs that come along with being the head of the house.
He does have help from this grandfather so he can continue his building apprenticeship.
As you can imagine there are some good days and then there are some bad. I think receiving this prize would give
him some time away from it all and to have fun,
without him his brothers and sisters would have lost more then there mother and father but also each other.

My Mum rocks

Vote for Dianne Poingdestre
My Nan in Tauranga has just been told she can't live alone any more, she's 82 and has been independent all this time but now just needs help at home 24/7. Well my Mum - Dianne - has decided she wants to be there for Nan after all the help she has given mum over the years its time for the roles to reverse. My Mum has given up her job, packed up here house in the Wairarapa within 4days and is moving her life to be with Nan in Tauranga.
They're gonna be ladies at lunch I'm sure of it and the rest of the family feel so lucky and happy to 1. have a Nanna who is with us at 82 and 2.To have my Mum there all the time to make sure Nan doesnt get hurt or in trouble, it puts us all at peace. That's why my Mum ROCKS - and if she could win some really cheap flights she might be able to bring our Nan and her on holiday to visit us sometime soon and we would love that heaps, much easier than travelling for ages in the car.

my husband

I would like to nominated my husband because he never takes time out for himself he always puts other people first. He never does anything for himself. We have people living with us who are not always family. We have our grandchild living with us as well and our house is so small that we never have time to spend with each other. He is always busy on the dairy farm. We help out in the community when we can. My husband helped carved the gate way to the High School in Greymouth and we also spend all day helping out at Waitangi Day to give back to the community by doing the hangi. My husband is a caring and given person. My name is Mary Secker and my Phone number is (03) 7324080 and my husband name is Wayne and he has the same phone number as me.

Shes Simply the Best!

Vote for Margaret
I wish to nominate my Mum- Margaret McLaughlinI think my Mum deserves a flight to the end of the earth and back actually, as that is the distance that would best descibe how much she puts into her 3 children and 11 Grandchildren. My Mum is always there for all of us, and is truly the person a Mumshould be modelled on.Apart from her everyday love of her family, Mum attends all herGrandchildren's school events, and is seen often on the sidelines of alltheir sports-a mean feat in itself- spreading herself fairly around, andbraving those cold cold winters! We are spoilt to have her as our Mum and Nan.So please vote for my Mum- she is "Simply the Best"-Thanks

My daughter Ingrid

My daughter Ingrid is inspirational -- like so many single working mothers -- because she always manages to find the time to squeeze so many things into a single day: looking after her two beautiful children, going to work, phoning or emailing us her parents, cleaning the house and cooking spectacular sitdown meals...she sacrifices the time that others would use to sit in front of the tele to sort out the kids' clothes and lunches for the next day. Despite all this, she always has a smile on her face and warm words for whoever she comes across. She makes life look easy; she lives with real grace.

Mith Leary

Maria

Vote for Maria
I would like to nominate Maria for a grabbie. Maria is one of the most kind hearted, selfless people I have ever met! Her husband died a few years ago which meant she became a single mother to her four girls who were all teenagers at the time. Maria works full-time as well as looking after her daughters and father who is in a wheelchair and has dementia. Although she has desires to travel overseas she says that she will never leave NZ while her parents are still alive, as she sees it as her responsibility to look after them. As well as all this she is always a shoulder to cry on and an empathic ear to all her workmates. We treasure her!

VOTE FOR ME

I'm inspirational because I always do things at the last minute like trying to get these cheap flights -- there's only 20 minutes left but because I have loads of friends, I think I can win!
So get voting! Peter Sears

Husband with a big heart

My husband and I met whilst travelling in New Zealand seven years ago. He, as a New Zealander lived in the UK at that time, I lived in Germany. We 'bumped into each other' in Rotorua (where we later married) and I immediately fell in love with his wonderful eyes. It was as if I was looking straight into his big heart.

A life together, filled with adventures followed. I know that he is a very conservative person and yet, he 'dared to jump'. This is why I would like to nominate him: he dared to just leave everything behind in the UK and start a new life in New Zealand with me.

He is the most wonderful father to our daughter who was born last year. He never gets tired of changing nappies, getting up at night, feeding and playing with her. He gives me valuable sleep time during the day and he takes her to look at the mountain. She could not have chosen a better dad and I could not have chosen a better husband. If somebody would auction him off, I would pay all the money in the world to buy him.

I love every minute with him. He is patient, hard working and simply a person with a big heart.

Graham & Liz

I would like to nominate Graham & Liz, an amazing couple. They are my neighbours. Graham is one of the green thumbs and grows all kinds of veges. I don’t think any of us living in this cul-de-sac has not gone through summer without enjoying Graham’s organic veges like lettuce, beetroot, tomatoes... you name it. Graham and Liz look after just about everybody in our cul-de-sac in many ways: mail collection and taking rubbish out (and arrange it nicely together to make the collectors’ job easy) while we are away and – this is just nothing considering all those little things they do for us in our lives and yet they refuse to have their contribution recognized. They have international students whom they look after like their own children... although they have never been overseas themselves. They have never been to the South Island either. I truly believe Graham & Liz deserve to be one of those inspirational Kiwis. Shame I just found out about this nomination – less than one hour before the nominations close - not enough time to let my other neighbours know about this. otherwise they would have been voted by every adult and kid in our cul-de-sac. PS: I don’t know what their phone numbers are as we always walk over. They are out at the moment. I can let you know via email later on – hope this is acceptable. Thank you. Sarah Hamilton

Josef Rangi Thomas.

Vote for Josef

I would like to nominate Josef Rangi Thomas.

for being a precious gift to us. He is a special little boy who has had it rough since birth Doctors havent found a diagnosis for this wee boy who requires Red blood transfusions monthly this is so devastating as there are always high risk involved which are to heart breaking to mention. As we live in the South Island and all the whanau live up in the Hawkes Bay I would love to take him up back home for a vist.

Love you always our beautiful son.
Mummy & Papa xox

Kamahl

Vote for Kamahl
I nominate my husband Kamahl because he is a wonderfull father to our 2 children and because he is the best friend i have ever had.
We were married in 2007 after being together for 10 years but were not able to go on a honeymoon together as we couldnt afford it. If he were to win a grabbie we would then be able to have a honeymoon together. Please vote for my husband :)Max 250 words. Please supply your name and contact number, and the contact details for your nominee. By submitting this email, you are deemed to have accepted the terms and conditions of this promotion.

Shar

Vote for Shar
I would like to nominate Shar for a $1 flight. She works at a hideously busy corporate reception. She's always smiling and welcoming to guests even when she's got lots on her mind. Everyone who comes in contact with her is automatically cheered up by her chirpy mood and her witty ways. Unfortunately due to work and family commitments she hasn't had time to explore this beautiful country, but i'm sure if she was to win a grabbie award she would make it her business to go on an exploring mission. She is utterly selfless and takes on board the burden of others issues graciously. In the past she has overcome her own personal issues and is now in the middle of helping friends with theirs. Countless people have advised her not to take on board too much but she is stubborn to the point of detriment to her health. I believe this flight would give her the break she needs and keep her out of mischief.

MY PARTNER PERCY

Vote for Percy
MY PARTNER PERCY I would love to nominate my wonderful partner Percy. He is the most generous person I have ever met and it is his birthday coming up. This would be a great surprise for him as both he and myself have never seen much of this beautiful country. I would love to be able to take him away. Please vote for us.

Dad

It upsets me to talk about how great he was and still is. He was a Scout Leader for many years and yet he didn't have any sons, just his two daughters, who loved playing netball. so he learnt how to coach, umpire and when we would ask him to play in our indoor team he wouldn't say no. He was a builder along with volunteer firefighting for 15 odd years and then he became a permanent firefighter which is every little boys dream! About 5 years ago dad started training to do the Ironman in Taupo, got thru his first year but had a few problems with cramp etc and wasn't happy "i can do better" he was always trying to make himself achieve higher. The following year wasn't so great the weather spoilt the race and they couldn't do the swimming, so to him it wasn't a proper race, "We'll have to try better next year". After the race we had to quickly get back to Auckland and get on a plane to Australia for his mothers 80th birthday with his whole family. we flew home on the 16th of march, and dad being dad couldn't stay off his bike "got to keep training for next year" and 3 days after arriving back he was off training not realising that on this particular day someone was about to make a bad move, My dad got knocked off his cycle and had a 50% chance of survival! We still have our dad here today but he cant do his ironman, he cant put out your fires, he cant be a proper builder (but he still helps friends and family with odd jobs around the house building things) He has 9 appointments a week to help him with his head injury aswel as having to have a sleep in the afternoon. We would really love to send him to this Outward Bounds for head injury's in the South Island, its things he loves doing with the specialised help and support. Please vote for us!

Sheree

Vote for Sheree
Sheree is my favorite daughter in law (my only daughter in law) but I admire her greatly for being such a supportive wife to my son, and also for the hard work she does managing her fathers farm singlehandedly. She definitely deserves a break
Adrienne

My two children

Vote for Julie's Kids
Hello from a very Proud young mum, my name is Julie, I would like to nominate my two children for this inspirational award.
I was born with cerebral Palsy in 1968, a very prem baby, with many Huge challenges in life, but with the love of a wonderful family, life went on. At 32 I was diagnosed with arthritis of the spine, pelvis, hips, & feet, due to years of being mobile with a severe gait. This was a huge shock, & the future was not pronosed as a pretty one. I am nearly 40 now, & I have been on my own now for nearly 7 years with my two beautiful children, now aged nearly 14 & nearly 9. Oliver & Louise cannot remember their mum how she once was, & they do many things that many of the peers have never had too do. eg. help their mum get shoes & socks on, knickers on etc. My dream for them would be to take them on a holiday to Auckland to Rainbows End. I am just not sure how I can physically make it happen. I use a walker now, & cannot walk long distances. But where there is a will there is a way! Many thanks, Julie Hughes. Much loved Mum of Oliver & Louise.
Contact details. Above..

MY MUM LESLEY

Vote for Lesley
MY MUM LESLEY, My mother definately deserves to win. She is alway willing to help out everyone and never complains. She is an extremely hard worker and never gets a break so she definately deserves a holiday anywhere. Please help to vote for my mother.

TIM GEENTY !!!

I would like to nominate Tim Geenty of Tauranga. He is a member of the NZ Fire Service who late last year was involved in a motorbike accident which saw him lose half of one leg. He was travelling on his way to work as his newly appointed role as Station Officer for the Kawerau Fire Station, which is over an hour away from Tauranga. He previously was a trainer at the NZFS National Training Centre in Rotorua training the new recruits (those training to be new firefighters) and before this he was a firefighter based out of the Rotorua Fire Station.
Tim is an inspiration to everyone who knows him because despite surviving this horrific accident and losing half a leg, he has always maintained a positive attitude throughout and aspires to be back operational again. Funds were raised to have double amputee Mark Ingliss flown up from Hamner Springs to pay a visit to Tim in the early days of his hospital stay. This proved to be inspirational to Tim and since then has gone from a hospital bed, to crutches and now currently walking around with his prosthetic leg .. all of this in such a very short time.
Please help Tim and his partner Karen getaway for a very deserving holiday.
Thanx ;o)
Karleen Emery

Jerusha

Vote for Jerusha
I would like to nominate my daughter – Jerusha (age 15)Jerusha has been training in snowboarding with the goal of competing in the international arena and to represent NZ. She is only 15, so has been studying her Level 1 during this time through high school and Correspondence School during 3rd term. Her team travelled from Ohakune to Wanaka by van for the Junior National Freestyle competitions – a total of 22hrs!! They arrived very tired and had to be ready to train the next day and to compete in 4 disciplines: Boarder X, Half-pipe, Grand Slalom & Slope style. Mt Ruapehu had no half pipe for them to train in and she had only had 1 boarderX race prior to the Nationals. Jerusha got 3rd in Slope style & 4th in Boarder X for the 16 & under age group. We would love it if she could fly next time and have some time to practice on the half-pipe and other amazing features they have at Cardrona so that she would have the same training opportunities as those that train there all season. Jerusha would then have more chance of getting selected for the National development squad and realising her dreams.Thank you for this wonderful opportunity.

Jessica Prosser

Vote for Jessica
Jessica lost her sister to suicide in 2006. Her sister was 16 at the time of her death. Jessica has managed to get on with her life but I do think its time that good surprises happen for her.

Theresa Goldsworthy is definately worthy!

Vote for Theresa!
I nominate Theresa Goldsworthy because she has spent her entire lifeputting others before herself. It's about time what's been going around for years came back around.

David Lu

Vote for David
I would like to nominate my brother David. He is the only son in the family and is a pleasure to be around. He is a funny brother. Most of the time he likes to be a clown and play games with his 4 sisters. Playing jokes and being the centre of attention. Thank you brother for being in my life and always making us sisters laugh. You are special.

Aaron

Vote for Aaron
My 18 year old son Aaron is an inspiring young man who has gone through so much in his life. Just before he turned 5 was it discovered he had a rare genetic condition. Four months later he was rushed to Greenlane for heart surgery. Aaron had a homograft aortic root transplant. Five months later he developed sydenhams chorea which puzzled the doctors as it was so rare. At 14 he had his aortic root replaced again. This time he received a pigs heart valve. Then 8 weeks ago Aaron developed a headache that wouldn’t go away. A CT scan showed up nothing. In the end he couldn’t go to college or his part time job. He only got relief when he lay down. Aaron was sent to a neurologist and was found to have a spontaneous dural tear with intracranial hypotension which resulted in headaches on standing. He had a lumbar puncture and was admitted to hospital and given I.V. fluids. The next day he vomited on standing so he had an epidural blood patch. His headache returned 3 days later but not as bad. Aaron started back at college this week after being in bed for 5 weeks. He still has mild headaches and needs to lye down a lot , Aaron’s life has been one of numerous doctors and specialists visits but he always looks on the bright side and never lets things get him down. I’m so lucky to have such an amazing son.

My Partner Damon

Vote for Damon
I nominate my partner Damon as an inspirational person. He began a business 10years ago out of a caravan in his backyard. He then went on to take over his Mums house filling it with computers and people. Still today he is working just as hard. We have been unable to spend much time together for the past few months as he has been working so much. He will quite often get home at 3am and be back off to work at 9am. He does not get a break from it, during lunches (if he gets them) and weekends he is constantly having to work to manage to keep on top of things and keep his clients happy. Since he is self employed working a 80hour week is the same pay as a 40. I would love to be able to get the chance to give him a well deserved holiday, but being on a student loan and supported by Damon the money is not there. His business is now a leading IT business which is winning many awards and finally giving him some trophies to be proud of and rewards for all of the time he has spent, but it is not the same as a few days away from it all.

Barbara Reddish

Vote for Barbara
I would like to nominate my mother Barbara Reddish. Barbara has always been one to put others before herself, she raised six children on a very modest salary meaning there was very often nothing left over for her, as her childrens wishes were always catered for. It is in her recent dealings however that i believe she has shown herself to be most deserving of this award. She has spent her last few years working as manager of an alzhiemers daycare facility a role in which she has given all of herself in order to make the lives of these people and their caregivers the best that they can possibly be, constantly using her free time to create events and fundraise for the cause. for this she is truely an inspiration.

Vote for Our Mum

Vote for Mum
I would like to nominate my Mum as she has had a lot of hard times over the past few years. She lived in a house that should have been demolished for 5 years, and is now living in a shed while she finally gets a new house built. Why ….because she lent a lot of money to me to start a business and kept helping my sister and I, and I had no idea of how much she was sacrificing for me. She borrowed from the bank for me, and she has always been, and never complains about what she did not have because her first thoughts were always for us and our happiness. .
She joins lots of clubs in her area, she breeds cats and has given then to some people can’t afford a pedigree but really want one to replace a cat etc. She sold someone a van that she had never met before on a time-payment as she knew they were struggling and needed it. She said they could pay her the rest when they could afford it. And she would never chase them for the rest of the money. She is an amazing lady who will help anyone that needs it, and she is not wealthy, just amazingly generous to others. She just likes to help anyone where she can. I have paid her back now but this would be a really nice way to say thanks for all she gives to everyone.

Theresa Goldsworthy

Vote for Theresa Goldsworthy
I nominate Theresa Goldsworthy because she has spent her entire lifeputting others before herself. It's about time what's been going around for years came back around.

My husband

Vote for Husband
Hi there is no better way to say this but my husband is the best blessing that has come to me and my children, he has helped me to foster his five nieces and nephews for ten months aged 2,3,5,7 and 8 years old, we also had four of our own children to look after at this time. We have recently fostered 13 children. My husband helps me every morning preparing lunches and breakfasts and yes changing nappies and still keeping up with all the husband duties of being a father figure for 3 foster children aged 16 months 3 and 4 and a teenager whose mum has cancer and 4 children of our own. Two weeks ago my husbands own foster dad who he looks up to so much sadly died suddenly, he was every thing to him, he is a brave man and only keeps going every day to please us all and to do what he feels is to help others. Because of the busy schedule we lead we never have precious time to go anywhere together. My husband works 12 hour shifts and never stops helping anyone that asks, he is a truly wonderful man and I feel that it would be the most amazing thing to be able to give back to him what he has been to everybody else.

Glenda

Vote for Glenda
I would like to nominate my wife Glenda who is the most beautiful and caring person I have ever met. She works in Mental Health and is always trying to do her best for her patients. Even in her time off she thinks about what she can do to make sure they have the best possible service. Glenda's Dad has recently become ill and is currently in hospital. Due to the distance and work commitments she hasn't seen him for a couple of months and it would be really great if she won a 'grabbie'.

Shaun and Sarah

Vote for Shaun and Sarah
I would like to nominante my son and his partner They have 2 small children and never go anywhere .I would love for them to catch up with there brother in Auckland .

Inspirational Ingrid!

Vote for Ingrid!
Mith Leary

Colin Fife

Vote for Colin Fife
My work colleague Colin suffers from Tourettes Syndrome. He is an absolutely lovely man who is unable to form deep emotional connections with fellow human beings. Everytime he tries to interact with new people he ends up yelling cruel and hurtful things he doesn't mean. Please show him you care.

My boss Lynda

Vote for Lynda!
I would like to nominate my boss Lynda, as she often tells us how inspirational she is. One example is on a mountain bike ride early
last year with myself and my husband. Half way through the course she started to giggle to herself, I asked if she was ok as she had fallen off a couple of times already, she replied “yes I just realised that I am such an inspiration to you young people”. This prompted lots more laughter and two more people falling of their bikes as she is only 5 years our elder, and we are in fact all as useless as each other on bikes. Needless to say since this occasion the words Lynda and Inspiration have popped up in the same sentence together on frequent occasions.

Love you Mum and Dad

Vote for Rosalyn and Michael:

Vote for my Dad
I'd like to nominate my Dad because his wife left him a few weeks ago and he is very cut up about it but is being so brave and still smiling everytime I see him. He is the most kind, loving and funny person I know and I am very proud to be his daughter. I'd like to nominate him so that he can go to Wellington and see his friends for a bit of support.

My mum Malia Tyrell

Vote for my mum
I nominate my mum because I LOVE her very much and would like to do something extra special for her. I am certain she would appreciate and love the opportunity to visit her elderly aunty in Auckland who she hasn't seen for approximately ten years. My mum suffers from a few medical conditions - asthma and arthritis being the major ones. She worked hard to raise my brother and I up on her own until she had to stop work due to her arthritis, 14 years ago. Thank you.

I would love to take him away for a mini break and spend some quality time together... Please Vote Mike!!Thank you

Please vote for Phoenix

Phoenix Clarkson
I would like to nominate my grandson Phoenix. He was diagnosed with leukaemia just after his second birthday. He has fought this for eighteen months now and despite being a very sick wee boy and in pain many many times, he keeps smiling and laughing and basically helps his Mum and Dad and all of his extended family by having such a loving caring nature. Whenever we feel slightly down, we look at this gorgeous wee boy who has endured so many treatments and still has two more years of treatments to go. By winning this, Phoenix and his Mum and Dad and wee sister will hopefully be able to have a holiday to bring a bit of normality into a life full of operations, medication, treatments and illness.
Please vote for Phoenix, he is a courageous wee man and like so many other wee kids, he is fighting a battle, we would all rather he had never had to, when he should be playing, running and being cheeky.

Super Mum and Wife - Lisa Knapman-Smith

Vote for Lisa
Lisa Knapman-Smith: Living with Cancer & making the most of the time she has left.Lisa's just 29 years young. Last year she was diagnosed with Breast cancer and bravely fought the disease while caring for her new baby Cort who arrived 16 weeks early. This year she got the worst possible news that the cancer has spread to her lymph nodes and is no longer curable. Some people might collapse into a heap of self pity, but not Lisa she faces each day with a positive attitude determined to make the most of her time left with her family( Husband, and kids Cort & Kita), creating enough happy memories to last them the rest of their lifetimes. You can read about Lisa and her bucket list( things she want's to do before she kicks the bucket) in this weeks Women's weekly. LIsa is the sort of person who does great deeds for others and now its our turn to do something for her. Please vote for Lisa, thank you.

My husband Wayne

Vote for Wayne
I would like to nominate my husband Wayne......... in June I became very ill, spending 10 days in hospital ( which is 1hrs travel from home)and then 2 months recovery. My husband tirelessly firstly travelled and then nursed me back to good heath. He had to also continue to run our business and do the job for both of us. Then unbelieveably just as I got well (August) he ended up in hospital and had 2 operations in one week and also 2 months on is just about back to full health. It is been quite a winter and still our business has to go on.

thanks Michele

My mum Elaine

Vote for my mum Elaine
I would like to nominate my mum Elaine.
Im in great appreciation of her as she helps me out with my daughter, by taking her to school every morning, and having her during the school holidays which helps me out emensily due to the costs of child care. This also makes it harder to visit her other grandchildren in Auckland when school holidays are on. I nominate her for this so she can go to Auckland and visit them when it suits

Alex Page of Maketu

Vote for Alex page
HI I would like to nominate Alex Page of Maketu for a grabbie! He is an amazing gentleman who works hard and strives to help his community and church in many and varies ways.
He takes services for the old folks home yet he is 85! He will come and help at the drop of the hat- like when I had a burst pipe and needed a plumber he did all the digging out for me and found the leak.
He organizes and prepares pancake breakfasts at church , is the handyman for the op shop and has served on the vestry. Basically if you want a great role model here he is!!

My husband Jason

Vote for my husband Jason
I'd like to nominate my husband Jason. We just celebrated our 6th anniversary recently, and it has been an amazing ride. We met online when I lived back in Brazil 7 years ago - we fell in love immediately.
While juggling the long distance relationship my mother suddenly died 10 days shy of her 50th birthday. Jason had no second thoughts on getting on a plane and fly for 17 hours to be in a country he has never been before and to support people he never met before [including me!]. But he just did, because for him was the right thing to do. My mom's death was the hardest thing in my life, and still is. But having him to come and be with me in a moment like that nspired me - I just knew that he would not only be there for me - in laughter and sadness - but also he'd do it no matter what.
It was instant, and within days of meeting each other he proposed. I couldn't love anybody more, and today he does inspire me even more for seeing through me and looking beyond my flaws every day. I left a life and a family behind, but I do know he's my soulmate and someone who will make people's day brighter anytime. My life is better because of him, I don't know if I deserve such a great man. I'd do all over again to be with him. Anytime!

Jessica Prosser

Vote for Jessica
Jessica lost her sister to suicide in 2006. Her sister was 16 at the time of her death. Jessica has managed to get on with her life but I do think its time that good surprises happen for her.
