Vote for Akira
I would like to nominate my friend Akira Le Fevre. Akira has been a volunteer facilitator for the group Qtopia for nearly four years now. The group is based in Christchurch and is a social support group for Queer Youth. His involvement sees him giving up two or three evenings each week for board meetings, organising fundraisers, meeting members individually, organising group activities for the members.
Akira goes above and beyond making sure every event is spectacular, from helping organise costumes and decorations for an Alice in Wonderland Tea party, to dressing up and hosting quiz nights.
With 1/3 of non heterosexual youth unsure if they will live past the age of 25, the work of people like Akira is vital to supporting our youth.
I use to work with Akira on the youth group and I can without a doubt say he is one of the most dedicated people I have ever met volunteering so much time and asking for nothing in return.I hope you will all support Akira and give him this reward he truly deserves.

What are the grabbies?
As New Zealand’s only truly Kiwi airline, we want to show what makes us special by giving away 500 return $1 airfares to kiwis making a difference in our lives.

What's the prize?
The 250 inspirational kiwis who receive the most votes will earn $1 return airfares for themselves and a companion to travel within New Zealand. They can choose to travel to any of our 26 dometic destinations.

Akira has my vote because he's such a positive role model for quer youth. He is consistent, competent, enthusiastic & totally committed to Qtopia as well as being a loving & caring person in all aspects of his life. His previous boss once said to me that he always gives 150% & I wholeheartedly agree.
