I would like to nominate my mother, Ann Jones.
She is a grandmother to eight children ranging in age from 18 to 1. My mother works for my sister and her husband two days a week but also has a job where she can work from home by laptop, often taking hours a day as she is on call to answer queries everyday.
My brother lives a little out of town but works in East Tamaki so he drops his three of his children to Mum every morning before they go to school. They then return everyday after school until their Dad collects them after he finishes work. Also in her busy schedule she has time to have two of these granddaughters every Tuesday night to give their Dad and step Mum some time to themselves. She then looks after her one year granddaughter all day on a Friday as to save precious time and to enjoy getting to know her, of course.
My sister has a busy schedule too, so often her two sons arrive after school at my mother's knowing that Grandma would be there, always with open arms and biscuits in the cupboard.
My children are the eldest of the eight grand children but in the past she has done the same for me. Both my mother and step father have been a tremendous support for my brother, sister and myself. My step father, Deryk, also has two grandsons of his own that live out of Auckland. They make sure that they travel to see them, in Mt Maunganui, as often as possible.
This sort of support has made for a very strong family unit and we all love them dearly.
I think that they totally deserve a little trip away and some time for themselves.
It would be lovely for you to consider them for these $1 fares.
Thank you and kind regards
