Vote for Demelza
A couple of years ago her grandmother was seriously ill in hospital in Hamilton while her mother had a brain bleed at the same time and was taken to Auckland hospital. I was living in Invercargill and couldn't afford to get up there but thank heaven for great nieces!
Demelza lived in Hamilton at the time and was working two jobs but when the rest home rang to say her grandmother was taken to hospital she went straight to hosp and sat with her grandmother until 1am, then went to rest home and gathered everything she would need. Over the next two weeks Demelza got up early, drove to Taupiri to feed the calves on her parents farm, back to Hamilton to her two jobs and to squeeze a visit to the hospital, drove back to Taupiri after and then to Auckland to visit her mother then back to Hamilton to sleep for a few hours and then repeat it all again.
Demelza was about 26 at the time and never did she utter one word of complaint about being tired or it being any bother at all, in fact she was chirpy and cheerful the entire time.
If it hadn't been for her my Mum would have been alone in hospital, her father would have worried himself sick about the farm and I would have gone even crazier than normal with worry about them all.
This is not the only time Demelza has put herself out for others, she just does what has to be done with a smile on her face.
I would love to see Demelza get some recognition for just being a wonderful young lady please!
