This December will be my parents’ 30th Wedding anniversary
My parents have made lots of sacrifices to support my sister and I who were spoilt for opportunities and time spent with our parents. Both Mum and Dad made time to drive car loads of girls to cricket, hockey, orchestra, ballet, music lessons, school dramas and all the other activities my sister and I were fortunate to participate in!
Dad spent over 15 years on school board of trustees for Geraldine Kindergarten, Carew Peel Forest Primary School and Geraldine High School including chairperson, volunteering his time to help education in our rural area and even now two years after my younger sister has left high school he is still involved with Geraldine High School Bus Trust. For my parents 25th wedding anniversary he had to give a speech at the Carew Peel Forest Primary School end of year prize giving.
This year my sister Heather and I, who are both students at Canterbury University, would like our parents to have a much more romantic anniversary. Being students we don’t have much money and have large student loans, therefore a $1 fight for dad would be a well deserved gift to reward him for being such a great parent, community member and role model!
