Nominating the best Uncle in the world - Kenny Perkins has been the one constant male influence in my sons lives. He has had a passion for instilling good manners and respect for elders especially there Mum and through sport has taught them to channel sometimes difficult behaviours into well rounded young men with a life long passion for basketball.
In particular Kenny has had a profound impact on my eldest son who has just turned 18 (who struggled from an early age to come to terms with an absentee father). Kenny never gave up and kept the message the same, stay in school, keep your books up to date, and always try hard no matter what others say, train hard and you will be rewarded, believe in your own abilities, take pride in how you present yourself. All this constant and often hard work has paid off as my son Bede has just landed a two year scholarship to the States to play basketball and further his education and Ethan made the U18 New Zealand Basketball team earlier this year at only 16. Every body needs someone and for Bede and Ethan it has been Uncle Kenny. Kenny you are an angel in disguise and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for always supporting me when I needed it most and for teaching Bede and Ethan the lessons that will carry them throughout adult life.
