Kent Simpson, my 32 year old son is a teacher . He is an inspiration and makes me feel very proud to have brought him up most of his life on my own. He left school to work in Pak 'n Save and at the age of 23 went to training college (with no qualifications) and trained to become one of the few male primary school teachers in NZ. He and his partner (now wife) had a child while he was training, so it was hard work but he did it.

I have so much admiration when I hear what he does with his students and how he copes with autistic students in his main stream class, as well as training the children for Rugby League,rugby,takes students skate boarding,teaches art .The list is endless.

If people only knew..... A lot of the school holidays are taken up with school work.

When he gets a phone call from an old pupil from another school, to say how much he misses his teaching..

That makes his job worthwhile.
