Laughton, an Educational Psychologist of 30 years service, has dedicated four years to tour New Zealand Schools, at his own expense, to offer infomation and seminars to teachers, parents and social workers about the misunderstood notion of Dyslexia. 'Reaching the reluctant Learner', the title of one of his books (published at his expense), is designed to help educators and parents to teach these wonderful, misunderstood children by reaching them first. Laughton (59) is himself dyslexic, bringing authentic workable inside-information to enable him to make a difference for these kids. Though well received by schools, after 20 months and much dogged determination cycling out to visit school principals from his mobile home base, he and his forebearing but equally dedicated partner, Natalie, need a brief trip home.
