I would like to nominate the father of my 4 beautiful children, because he is a well deserving father.
My husband has recently won the battle with a serious illness "syrosis of the liver" caused by
the virus hebatitis B. Laurence was diagnosed two years ago with syrosis and specialist at Auckland
hospital didn't think he would live another week. He collapsed and went into a coma 5 times during the time
he was sick. Was put on a waiting list for a transplant and through out the time he was on the waiting list
he refused to stop working as he didn't want his kids to suffer due to daddy being sick. He kept working and
doctors couldn't believe a person in his condition was still working 60 hours a week to support his family. I know
it sounds rediculous but that was the type of person my husband is. He will sacrafice himself for his children.
Two years later Laurence was taken off the waiting list as the trial medication he was taking seem to working and his liver
is regenerating itself. Laurence volunteered himself to be a giny pig to trial medication which hasn't been approved by
FDA for people in his condition. So not only he sacrafice himself for his children but he sacraficed himself for everyone
else that will suffer from this condition. Laurence is slowly recovering and still undergo monthly check up with the the liver
specialist team at Auckland Hospital and the team at Middlemore hospital. I believe I am a lucky person to have Laurence and
my children are lucky to have a father as loving and caring as my husband and father to my children Laurence Shane Corke-Cox
