I am writing to you today on behalf of my whanau to nominate my father Leif Pakai.
He is the most amazing dad in the whole world, I know that everyone thinks their dad is the best but mine really is. When I was 1 my biological dad and my mum split up, and my mum met my dad they were both only 19, he was an apprentice mechanic making a whopping $106.00 per week. He loved my mum so much and still does to this day, he took up the challenge to become a husband and father of a child that wasn’t his, and he continued to do this with other children that they both fostered over the years, yes I had to share him with the world it seemed. I have a sister and a brother and we are a tight knit whanau even though I have left home now and live in Australia and I have only been able to do that because my parents have helped me grow into a positive, can do anything girl. My dad has never made me feel as though I was never his. What is a Dad? He is the one who comes to school concerts to watch you be a tree in a forest and makes you feel like you’re the headliner, he is the one who he helps you heal from you first broken heart………… and every other one after that.
I love my dad please give him a holiday with my mum
