Super Mum - Karen McAvinue

I would like to nominate my Mum. She is a hard working, caring lady who will always help anyone who needs it.

She has raised me by herself with the help of my 3 older siblings since I was 2 (that is when her husband passed away). She has always put me first and I think it's about time she got something back for all the sacrifices she has made so I could have new things and do activities like netball.

She works at the local school as a teacher aide and I know some teachers really rely on her for her help and being a great friend. She also does before and after school care. Before care starts at 7am until school starts and after care starts from 3pm until whatever time the parents get there. On more than one occasion she has had children until 7/7.30pm when a parent has been held up.

She is a great supporter of my niece and always goes to her netball games and ballet classes, as many as there are, and she always supports her in so many ways...even catching the bus into town to take her to her ballet lessons and other committments during the school holidays which is her only holiday also.

She is a great person and I think she deserves a chance to visit her son and daughter in law and their 3 children whom she hasn't seen for about 4 years.
