Vote for Bruce
I would like to nominate my step-dad, Bruce Modrich. Bruce is always first to offer a helping hand, whether it is for family, friends, neighbours, or strangers. Bruce is a volunteer fire-fighter for the Waitati fire-brigade. He has also been known to help drivers, on a cold winter night, to put chains on their tyres so they can travel safely. One time he was driving home from work when he saw a couple pulled over on the side of the road with a shattered windscreen, he carefully removed traces of glass and then drove their car to where they needed to go as they were too scared to drive themselves, they drove his vehicle instead. They were so grateful they sent a letter to the Otago Daily Times to thank him publicly. Bruce has helped me out many times with things that need fixing, building, and locating. Recently he fixed an old torch so that I could take it to outward bound and not have to spend money on a new one that I couldn't afford. The most wonderful thing about Bruce is his humility and modesty, he just likes to help and doesn't expect anything in return. He makes my mum happy and for that I am very grateful. Bruce would really benefit from some Air NZ $1 airfares so he can visit his family who live at the other end of the country. My vote is fro Bruce =D
