Vote for Colleen
I would like to nominate my mum Colleen, the most inspirational person I know. My Dad was a chronic alcoholic and left when I was two, leaving Mum to raise four kids on her own. When I was three she was diagnosed with cancer and given only a few months to live but she fought hard and miraculously beat all the odds and survived! Unfortunately the invasive treatment she received has left her with permanent disabilities, but despite that she remains one of the most cheerful and happy-go-lucky people I know. Since her cancer she has been actively involved in volunteering for the cancer society and a couple of years ago received a badge in honor of her 20+ years of service. You would think by this stage she had suffered her fair share of problems, but then when I was seven my sister Sherree died, aged 23. Despite her pain Mum was the rock that held our family together. It is for these reasons and many others that words cannot express that I feel my Mum Colleen is deserving of this nomination.
