Vote for Martin and his beautiful girls

Vote for Martin
I would like to nominate my boyfriend Martin. For the past 2 years he has been fighting thought the courts to get to see his 2 beautiful girls aged 6 and 9 who now live in Dunedin. He has been flying down once a month and gets to spend the weekend with them and in January he is able to bring them up to Wellington for two serpent weekends (so that they can spend some time with the rest of the family) But as both of the girls are very anxious about flying he has to fly to Dunedin pick up the girls and then fly back to Wellington (where we will have a belated Christmas with them as he has not had a Christmas with the girls in 2 years) then he will need to fly back to Dunedin with them and then return home. Then at the end of the month he can do it all again. He never complains about the cost however I no that it is heavy on his mind at times.
It would be nice if he could win a $1 grabaseat just to take a little pressure of him.
I love him dearly and his smile when he’s with his beautiful angels will light up any room.

I think it is great that this dad is making such an effort to see his kids

I was originally going to log one, of the many for my mother and then i came across this one and it ripped my heart to pieces and joy. To see a man so willing to spend time with this kids as much as he can and also battling the courts to try and get more visitation and the money it would cost going back and forth just proves there is just that one more person who is trying to make do as much as they can(sorry mum! No love taken away from you heh) My Vote for this guy is not only a vote but maybe also a message to those men out there who have made past mistakes/things holding them back when it comes to there kids - THAT IT CAN BE DONE WITH SACRIFISES - I hope you get the Dollar flight dude! Make one less hassle to worry about.

Martins story has much deeper complexities than his girlfriend expressed. In honouring his privacy as much as possible I want to share a bit more of his story. The pain and suffering caused not only to him, but also his girls at the loss of their dad in their daily lives has been immense and left many emotional wounds. These are slowly being healed through his regular visits from Wellington to Dunedin. While he’s been going through the court case and managing the commuting he still finds the time to care for people around him who are in need, helping them out with his time and advice, providing a shoulder to lean on or an ear to listen, perhaps fixing a car for someone he knows can't afford to pay (which has been me on occasions) or taking firewood to the widow of his late dear friend - just some of the many things he quietly does for the people in his community. I look at all the belongings my daughter has, so many of them gifts from an adoring uncle who has thoughtfully chosen that item of clothing (thanks for the dungarees bro) or toys, all have become favourites of Grace. As I've stood on the sideline for the last few years, I will also stand on the sideline of this blog in hope that he is one of the many deserving people who have a genuine need recognised - my bro certainly has my vote!

I hope my vote will help Martin to achieve his goals.
