Vote for Lepeka Vaoliko
On the 8th of November this year besides being election day, my parents will be celebrating their 50th wedding Anniversary.
Mum and Dad arrived in NZ in 1963 with 3 young children, no English and very little money. In 50 years of marriage they have had 7 children, adopted 4 more, have 24 grandchildren and have assisted several families to get settled in NZ.
She and Dad have worked hard to raise their family, provide a good home and laid strong foundations in helping to build the Samoan Catholic community in Wellington through their involvement with the Newtown parish.
In 1993 my Father had a major stroke which left him half paralyzed. Since then my Mother has worked tirelessly in caring for him, working 5-6 days per week and still finding time to support both immediate and extended family. She is a humble, hard-working woman who always puts the needs of her husband and her family before her own and I am grateful to her for this.
This year, after 45 years of living in NZ, Mum and Dad became NZ citizens in a tearful ceremony we had at home. The one thing Mum has never done but has always wanted to, is go down South! She doesn’t travel often and if she does its for a specific purpose so it would be great if she could go down South just because!
Vote for my Mum - a phenomenal woman and an inspiration to us all!
