October 4th 2008 was supposed to be a day of joy. There was to be a joint birthday party for Shani Mcleans children Eli turning 1 on the Saturday and Alazay turning 3 on the Tuesday. Instead the day was spent mourning the birth and death of Shani's 3rd child Alexis.Shani started having stomach pains on the 2nd of October unbeknown to her she was at least 30 weeks pregnant. She had done numerous pregnancy tests and had been seen by a dr only to be told it was period pains. On Saturday she was rushed to hospital and gave birth to a perfect but sleeping Alexis. As you could imagine the emotions ran high when she was told she was pregnant and utter helplessness when she gave birth to a sleeping Alexis. On Sunday she went and gave her children their joint birthday party that was originally scheduled for the 4th. She put on a brave face so her children wouldn't miss out. On the Wednesday Alexis was laid to rest.I met Shani through the Trade Me Parenting message boards. She is a well liked and respected member on the message boards.I speak to Shani regulary and she is an absolute delight. She has comforted me many a time and is willing to lend an ear when neededNo parent should have to bury their child and this has hit Shani and her partner Darryl very hard.
